Leslie Avery


Leslie Avery is a Cape Cod native and coming up on 30 years as a drag artist/performer. Leslie got her start at Boston’s famed Jacques Cabaret, where she honed her craft in the art of female illusion. Because of her unique eye and attention to detail and organization; Leslie has had the opportunity to showcase her talent throughout New England and up and down the Atlantic seaboard. Her celebrity impersonations of Tina Turner, Patti Labelle and Mary J. Blige are arguably the best in the business. Once part of the local “Pageant Queen” circuit – Leslie holds many local crown titles, including Miss Chez Est For Life.

When not out and about entertaining at night clubs, Pride festivals, and other celebrations; her charity work is as diverse as her drag career. In the early 1990’s she served on the Board of Directors of The Boston Alliance of Gay and Lesbian youth, and also served as their Counseling Director. From 1992-1996 Leslie was the Operations Manager of the Fantasia Fair Conference held each year in Provincetown, MA, and in 1997 became the Conference’s Executive Director. In recent years Leslie has been affiliated with The Cocktails At Eight Annual Event in Bristol, CT, among many others. Leslie has always lent her talent to worthwhile causes, and has been a featured performer at the Boston, Rhode Island and Connecticut ISC charity events and Coronations. Leslie holds a special place in her heart for Middletown, CT, as this was the location she chose when moving to Connecticut in 2003.

Leslie resides in Hartford with Robert, her husband of 2 years; partner for 17, along with several house plants and over 200 pairs of high heeled shoes.
